Materials We Use
At J.I.M.S. Incorporated, we believe in using the highest quality materials for your punch press stamping project. Poor quality materials create parts that don't last long or hold up to the wear and tear that our customers (and their customers) routinely put on the parts. It's important that your punch pressed parts are able to withstand the demands that will be put on them every day.
We use:
- Steel
- Cold and hot rolled carbon steel
- Galvanized steel
- Aluminum
- Aluminized sheet metal
- Galvannealed coated carbon steel
- Stainless steel
- Brass
- Copper
- Bronze
Which material you choose depends largely on your project specifications, what the part will be used for, and the budget you have available.

What Is Metal Stamping?
Metal stamping, sometimes used interchangeably with metal punching, is the process of converting flat sheets of metal into custom shapes. This is usually done with some form of steel, but other metals like brass and copper are also used. However, metal stamping and metal punching aren't quite the same. They differ in one important way:
Slideforming vs Punch Press
Punch press dies are used to stamp the necessary cutouts, then perform any bending if necessary, as the material is fed through the die to make the completed part. However, punch press dies are different than slideforming tooling. Punch press dies can only work within the die. While punch press dies are faster to set up, it does not have the same capabilities as slideforming. Slideforming can produce parts with more complicated bends. When you provide the specs for your product, we'll guide which process will be the best solution for your project.
We specialize in the precision forming of customized metal parts, springs, wireforms, progressive stampings, Fourslide parts, and mechanical assemblies.
We have extensive experience in creating custom-made metal products designed to meet high-demand applications.
